Visitor's Policy
Trinity College Library’s collections and facilities are primarily for the use of Trinity College students, faculty, staff, and CTW Consortium members. The Library also allows academic researchers and students not affiliated with Trinity College access to its collections and equipment. As a member of the Federal Depository Library Program, the Library welcomes visitors who wish to use material distributed by the Government Printing Office.
All visitors are required to adhere to the following policies:
- You must be 18 years old or, if under 18, must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older. Parents are reminded that children must be strictly supervised. If you are under 18 and need to use U.S. Federal Government information, please ask to see a research librarian.
- You must register (a legibly printed name is required) in our Visitors Log at the Circulation Desk on Level A. To register we require a government issued identification document (drivers’ license, state issued card in lieu of the license, or passport). No other form of identification including school or college IDs is accepted with the exception of Wesleyan and Connecticut College IDs.
- Use of our “Guest” computers is on a “first come” basis. If after an hour another visitor or a TC patron is waiting to use the computer, you may be asked to relinquish it. Exceptions may be made for access to U.S. Federal Government information. All computer use is subject to College computing policies.
- Eating food is not permitted in the library areas of the building.
- Beverages are allowed provided they are secured in covered containers.
- No smoking is strictly enforced.
- You may not borrow our print or media resources.
- Photocopying/printing cards are available for purchase in the outer lobby.
- You do not have access to some areas of the building, including the Level 1 language lab and Level B computer labs.
- You should exhibit no behavior that is aimed at disturbing another patron or staff member. Such behavior includes, but is not limited to, verbal abuse, violence or threats of violence, sexual harassment, loud conversations in person or on the phone, yelling, running through the building or damaging library property.
- Visitors are not admitted after 10:00pm.
- The Library is closed to visitors during official reading days and end-of-term examination periods. Please check our homepage for dates.
The Library reserves the right to deny access to persons who fail to adhere to the above policies or in any other way infringe upon the priority access of Trinity College students, faculty, and staff. Those questioning any of this policy should contact Dr. Richard Ross, the College Librarian.
