Government Documents at Trinity College
The Trinity College Library has been a partial depository for the United States Government Printing Office since 1895. The documents collection is large and diverse. It includes such well-known publications as the Congressional Record, the Statistical Abstract of the United States and publications of various government agencies such as NASA and the Census Bureau.
Prior to 1995 the majority of government documents were either printed or distributed in microform. Many of these items can be found through the library’s catalog; others require the use of specialized indices. Reference librarians are available to give you assistance. The hard copy documents received by the library are either shelved on the C floor of the library or filed in the microform drawers on the A floor.
Today over ninety per cent of government documents are published electronically. Electronic publications selected by the Trinity College Library have an internet link embedded in the catalog record which provides online access to the full text of the document. However, since the government documents of the United States are not copyrighted, all electronic publications are available on the World Wide Web. Please use TOR (Trinity Online Resources) to search for government documents published online, but not included in our catalog.
