ARTstor
ARTstor is a subscription image database containing nearly a million images with data, and is the product of a Mellon Foundation project to provide resources for teaching and learning. ARTstor's image collections "document artistic traditions across all times and cultures" and include "architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts and design, as well as many other forms of visual and material culture."
ARTstor provides teaching tools for faculty: shared course folder and personal collections tools, online presentation features, and a downloadable offline presentation tool (Offline Image Viewer/OIV) facilitating network-independent presentation integrating ARTstor images with personal and other image resources.
In 2007 Trinity College Library entered into a hosting partnership with ARTstor, for ARTstor to host and provide access to the library's Image Collections & Services images and licensed Saskia Archive. Primarily illustrating the history of art and architecture, and now totalling nearly 42,000 images, the two Trinity Library collections supplement other ARTstor collections in support of Trinity College teaching. The expanded ARTstor/Trinity relationship enables Trinity users to access Trinity Library and ARTstor images in one convenient location.
