Course Images for Review: General Instructions
Brief general instructions are provided below, but more specific instructions relating to your course will be handed out in class. For additional assistance, refer to more detailed Help information available within the site, or contact Image Collections & Services staff (Raether Library, Level A, x2194) or the teaching assistant for your course.
Open the image database: http://images.trincoll.edu
On the main Welcome page, select “Browse.”
The Browse page will open in its default view, showing an overview of all course review units in the database. If you wish to browse the images in a particular course unit, select the course name from the drop-down menu near the top of the page. Then click the "GO" button.
The complete set of review images for that course will display in the default “grid view” - showing thumbnail, title, creator name, date of creation, and each image’s classroom presentation order. The set of images can be sorted alphabetically or numerically by the blue column headings (Title, Creator, Date.Creation, or Course.Unit). Scroll or page through the thumbnails and brief data, or click on any thumbnail or title to display a larger image with more extensive data.
Use the database’s “Advanced Search” options to locate specific images. For example, to find Picasso paintings or collages with a guitar, one method is to search "Across all fields" for "all of the words" "picasso guitar." Another option is to search "Selected fields" for "guitar" in "Title" and "picasso" in "Creator." Before clicking the "Search" button, specify which image units you wish to search. You can search all units at once or constrain your search to particular units.
Search results can be saved to "my favorites" - either selected single images, or entire pages of results. At the end of each week all of the images shown previously in a class could be displayed and saved to “my favorites” for reviewing when convenient. Within “my favorites” there are further options for displaying and organizing images, including the option to save groups of “my favorites” images to your personal computer in Webpage format, or to review "my favorites" images in slide show format.
Users may customize “my favorites,” and may customize the way that browse and search results are displayed. Select "preferences" at the top of any page to view the available options.
