Box 1 contains 71 folders of applications dating between 1970-72 . These are grant applications sent to Resist requesting funding for various amounts of money and purposes. The groups in this section are listed alphabetically, and were all denied funding by Resist, except for one file which is highlighted in bold. The files include, in almost all cases, the grant proposal and the subsequent letter of rejection sent by the Resist Steering Committee. Groups were denied for a variety of reasons, but mostly because Resist had such a high rate of request that they tried to prioritize the need of the individual groups. Groups often asked for money to pay bills, to send newsletters, or for other various reasons, and the grants given never exceed $500 at a time. (see below for complete list) Also included in Box 1 are 13 folders of miscellaneous materials dating from 1972-1980.
