BOX 3/1 RESIST COLLECTION- "APPLICATIONS" 1973 APPROVED

Box 3/1 of the Resist Collection is an extensive accumulation of funding requests all dating from 1973. Each request from this box was approved by the Resist Steering Committee. (see below for a complete list of organizations) Organizations in this box came to Resist from all over theUnited States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and several groups are also located outside the US, including, Canada. Included at the beginning of the files are organizational lists kept by Resist members, listing the groups funded for each month of the year (not every month is included). The lists are a collection of notes taken on each group and sometimes a summary of the request and a short history of the group’s affiliation with Resist. Organizations in this collection vary from day care centers and tenant organizations, to medical clinics and labor unions.

Folders are labeled in the standard fashion: date of the request to Resist, name and location of the organization, the decision and the date given by Resist, grant number, and dollar amount granted to the group. In this box also there are several groups which have multiple requests in each folder. This will appear in the inventory as well as on the folder label. This section houses 109 folders.
