Instruction Requests
The Library’s research instruction program offers customized research workshops for courses ranging from First-Year seminars to Graduate Thesis independent studies. Faculty are encouraged to collaborate with librarians on developing learning goals for specific courses or assignments.
Please schedule library instruction as far in advance as possible. We prefer at least two weeks' time between the date of the request and the date of the instruction session. To prepare for research instruction sessions, instruction librarians meet with the faculty members to review the objectives of the courses and assignments related to the instruction.
Students may also schedule individual research appointments using the Library Scheduler. These appointments often follow instruction sessions.
The Phelan Library Learning Center on level A is used for many types of research instruction, including demonstrations and guided research opportunities for students. Evening workshops include sessions on specific resources or research consulting sessions.
